Just wanted to post something really to boost the 'Dan Evans stands alone' thread. This made me smile:

Good day but not that pumped for this ice bath
Ah, yes, as life gets more serious, there's always a downside !
But so thrilled for him. And for British tennis. And Leon for his belief, and his trainer, Steve Kotze (?) . . .
And, yes, Nishkori is one of the toughest draws but IF Dan were to lose (likely but who knows), he'll have played the US Open and only lost to the world's best 11th player. No one can criticise you - it certainly does take off a certain amount of pressure.
Hope he enjoys his NY weekend . .
NB Piers Newbery posted some good tweets from the match (a journalist actually WATCHING the match . . . ). Funny comments from both players . . .

Wow....probably the worst draw that a qualifier could have got....really.....was there a tougher match out there for the qualifiers than Nishikori.....wow.....slim reward for winning three matches....how do you think it will go? At least he has nothing to lose and no pressure.....tough draw....but congrats Dan!
Not sure that Ferrer or Raonic would have been a much kinder draw ... but agree that it's not a great one! On the flip side, a bit nasty for half-Brit James Blake, who's the unlucky soul who gets Ivo Karlovic as his Q opponent. (And Jack Sock, who gets Petzschner. Two nasty floaters).
Nishikori is struggling at the moment. Dan has a fighting chance. BBC news ticker calling him Dan Ward though. He qualifies for the US Open and they can't get his name right.

Steve Kotze aka Speedo, South African fitness trainer who's been at the NTC for a long time, also worked with Laura amongst others. Sounds like Evo's been doing alot of work off the court on his fitness as well, very positive.
