Tara doesn't quite seem to have been up to her top form post Wimbledon ( where she played so well ! ). I thus wasn't too confident tonight, but hoped she'd prevail.
Those 40 ranking points on offer for a Q1 win makes it just so much more agonising.
Been so close in Wimbledon R1 and Q1 here. I really hope she can have a good end to the season to keep her spirits up.
So well done to Bally and Sam. And we could have had more, but I am sure Jo and Tara have given their all.
Just in case anyone was wondering (it's not stop the press stuff but someone I was speaking to was well confused) :
Pauline Parmentier (FRA) got awarded a WC for the MD as part of the US/French WC exchange agreement.
But she said that she was only just getting over her shoulder injury and, although she felt OK enough to play, she didn't think that she would do justice to the MD WC.
So she stepped back and left the spot for the second on the list (Virginie Razanno) who is also well-liked and respected, especially after the awful time she had a couple of years ago with the death of her trainer and fiancée.
Pauline is playing the qualies instead - and won her first round.
