QR1: Samantha Murray WR 190 beat Arina Rodionova (AUS) WR 220 (CH 157 in 2010) by 4 & 1

QR2: Samantha Murray WR 190 v (wc) Taylor Townsend (USA) WR 334

Former junior no. 1 (& still only 17) Townsend thrashed 11th Q seed Birnerová 1 & 2, so will be much tougher than her WTA ranking suggests. Still, Sam has got her 40 points now (that must have been her main aim, surely) so hopefully won't feel too much pressure and can just go for it!

First set started in the same way but Tara was not able to sustain the level of tennis needed.

So Tara manages to lose a set 6-4 winning more points than her opponent, how frustrating !
I suspect the experience of Castano gradually worked out how to break down Tara's game, forcing her to play one more shot especially on the big points.

Better news though in the second set, now 2-0 !

Tara won 35 points against only 31 for Catalina . . .

Tara often seems to have a tricky first set though so maybe . . .

The winner of Tara's match plays Yung-Jan Chan (TPE) (current WR 252 but with a career high of 50 but who's only played a couple of matches this year) who's beaten the number 9 seed, Zanevska.

Tara now 5-0* - looking better . . .

Fascinating match this , Tara looks clearly the better player based on points won, but and its a big but, you can just see Castano edging the final set, as she did the first, fingers crossed that won't be the case.

Yes, it's stuck on the main scores page, on slamtracker and on the app

Hopefully it's just a technical problem and doesn't mean something drastic has happened.

It has just moved to 30-30, so it looks like something drastic did happen but it wasn't enough to end the match.
