I just really like the single minded way Kyle and his team have so concentrated on clay court futures this year.

I really do think it is having his coach's stated aim of developing his game by playing many matches and particularly longer tactical points within these matches.

Although just by such concentration he is becoming a better and better clay court player, in his intermittent hard court and grass court appearances he has shown very good signs of being an all court player.

Next year, I expect many more hard court appearances and of course testing himself at Challenger level.

Will be interesting to see what he achieves in any challengers in the remainder of this year, but whatever it has been a very good development year for Kyle.

He's clearly learning so quickly, and each time we see him, he's added new aspects to his game. Not sure it's going to pan out this week, but I'd like to see him reach the QF and play Balleret again.....just to see how he and his coach process last week's heavy defeat, and how they respond with a new plan just a few days later. I'd like to think it would be much closer this time anyway, since the Polish match report suggested Kyle simply had an off day, which is forgivable after a run of great wins!!

I've written an article about Kyle, again for the Yorkshire Times, mapping his progress over the past couple of weeks. As always, if there are any glaring errors, that would be marvellous, but once again doing my best to raise the profile of our local youngsters.

Good article and I am sure Kyle and Beechy really appreciate the support.

I can't find any glaring errors at all in the article itself, but in the post above, are you sure this is what you mean't to say wink

Perhaps you missed out the "please let me know" part.

"Mean't", Bob? disbelief

Enjoyed the article, though.

Erm .... well .... erm .... Yes ..... well ..... I have an excuse you see.

Spell checker on this computer is in Spanish and so it tells me every word is wrong and someone set up the auto correct function incorrectly and something must have fallen on my keyboard while I was typing and it is very early in the morning here and English is not my first language and ......

OK.  I give up. You win ............ AGAIN.

Hangs head in shame. Maybe I need (another) new identity wink

I'll keep it as Monacan. Us Yorkshire folk are fairly simple, long words confuse us. biggrin

At least you didn't put an apostrophe in the word "meant". That will keep SC off your back. wink

Not necessarily, Bob.  I may have lived in London for the last 40 years & lost all trace of my local accent (not without a lot of encouragement from me, as it's not particularly easy on the ear - give me an honest-to-goodness West Riding accent any day), but I was born in Middlesbrough when it was still part of the North Riding of Yorkshire & my family looked south to York rather than north to, er, Mag & Mackem-land (or, if you're a Boro footie fan, Skunk & Deckchair-land, or the land of the teams that play at Sid James' Park or the Stadium of Sh1te), so I'm still a Yorkshirewoman first, then English, then British... wink  I just happen, because of my linguistic background/professional training, to be obsessive about getting that sort of thing right!

The Pole, one of Fitzy's doubles partners earlier this year, has just won a very long R1 match against a German qualifier 7-6(4) 6-7(3) 7-5!

Poor Kyle, has to play two L32 matches...

Nah pretty sure he doesn't. Think he's straight onto R16 like a normal tournament surely?

Looks like rain in Poland may have delayed the schedule and Kyle will get another day off tomorrow as they finish of the 1st round matches.

That could end up quite tough for Kyle though considering he himself is still at the L32 stage...

See my post mate. Confusion due to an earlier typo - Kyle is definitely at the round of 16.

But it was Steven who said Kyle has a 2nd first round match to play, surely he of all people wouldn't make such a typo?

You've been around for long enough to know that I make at least a dozen typos a day on here wink Most I catch within a few seconds of making them but too many persist for a fair bit longer than that, much to my embarrassment! disbelief

I'd claim I make the odd unimportant one like that just to give you all a laugh, but you wouldn't believe me ...
