The Belgian served 4 DFs in the last games and still Ash couldn't break. In fact all 4 of Ash's points WERE the DFs!!! Would love to see this. Suspect the Belgian is playing ultra high risk tennis on serve and return, and when it comes off Ash is a spectator. Can't explain it otherwise.
Now *5-6. Another BP not converted. 4 in this set alone (to none offered up), all 4 saved. So just 3 of 19 BPs converted for the match for Ash, compared to 4 of 4 for the Belgian!!!
If he doesn't win today, can't really say he wasn't given enough chances.....still all to play for though.

Some remarkable stats in this match. 17 DFs in total for Vandenbulcke so far.
And on the Vandenbulcke serve, they has played 116 points but only 72 on the Ash serve. I will leave the mathematicians to work out how many extra deuces that they have had on the Vandenbulcke serve.
Also on BPs, Vandenbulcke has taken 4 from 4 while Ash is 3 from 19.
And now Ash is *5-6, 15-40 and facing two MPs
Edit
And Vandenbulcke takes the first one to win in 3 sets. As I think Korriban has suggested, it almost looks like Vandenbulcke was going for 1st serves on both 1st and 2nd serves.

Another winnable match - a good run here could get Ash into the top 400.
With the way the draw has opened up for Ashley, he'd probably be disappointed not to at least reach the final.............where he's likely to face de Loore or more probably Coppejans. The former is rising slowly without having really shown anything out of the ordinary to date. The latter has genuine pedigree as a junior Grand Slam winner and #1 ranked junior player during 2012. Now THAT would be a match-up to savour: a real chance to see what Ash has really got in the tank.
I have a feeling that Ash could very well break through in the next 12-18 months as a top 175-250 player, playing regularly on the Challenger tour, as he seems to have a game that works well on clay as well as hard courts. Top 350 by year end looks a decent minimum target for him. Very good signs.
Ash wins the first set 6-3, aided somewhat by 8 DFs from Vandenbulcke
which presumably also explains somewhat the 14 (!) BPs that Vandenbulcke had to defend.
Ashley only taking 3 of them was quite gentlemanly in the circumstances . . .
Even more gentlemanly to let the Belgian take all 3 of his BP chances, and be 2 breaks up in set 2!!!! This wasn't in the script. A bit of digging deep needed now.
