The main, important tournaments obviously have their own thread but, having mulled it over with DavidC, we wondered if it might be a good idea to sometimes have a thread at the end of the week that just summarised the other results from the week - some don't really warrant a separate thread but are maybe of interest, especially when all put together . . .
Anyway, over in the Caribbean . .
Coca Cola Grade 5 - St. Lucia
Stefan COOPER made the quarter-finals before losing to the American, Myles Schalet.
Troy Dixon lost in the second round to the number one seed (who's now in the final with Schalet)
Stefan and Myles, though, have made the doubles final (result to be added).
In the girls, Mia SMITH (4) lost in the quarters to Madison APPEL (USA) (6) (who's a year older).
Megan ROGERS beat the number 8 seed and then lost in the next round.
Again, in the doubles Mia is in the final with a Canadian playing partner, Anjana SURESH
Dema Cup, Grade 5 - Bulgaria
Shamael CHAUDHRY made the semis before losing out to the Serb, Stefan Milicivic (who won the final)
Poznan, Grade 4 - Poland
Emily Arbuthnott lost in the quarters, in three sets, to the number one seed from Ukraine, Fedoryshyn.
Again, in the doubles (to be played) Emily is in the final, playing with Karola Bejenaru (ROU)
And, yet anotherBritish doubles final, Sacha Modica has made the final with Braun (GER)
In terms of miscellaneous news, Katy Dunne is tweeting that she's injured her foot - maybe a stress fracture, maybe just a sprain. As all the girls were getting all excited re exam results and/or going over to the States for the US Open, and the two Grade 1 events beforehand, this seems a real shame. As poor Katy says:
Why is it before every grandslam this year ive got injured! Arghhhhh!#annoying
A first ITF title for Emily, whose partner is based in Belfast, and reached 4 consecutive finals in July, losing only to Freya Christie. Similarly a maiden title for Sacha, but a second in a a row for Stefan, whose record in doubles is markedly superior than in singles.
