Golding saves at least 2 MP (?!?!) and hangs on by his fingernails for 5-5

I made it 2 MPs as well. He then had BP at 5-5 but Lang survived.

Oli to serve *5-6

Brain freeze moment. Thought Oli's score had disappeared from Live scores, then remembered he is playing Austria and not Italy  confuse

6-6 3rd set.

It's that squeaky "you know what" time again.  Or is it a "clutch" moment confuse I get so confused these days. Must be getting old.

Eek, what on earth has been going on here ?!

IT looks like Lang got injuured last August, so maybe he has come back playing better than before ... yet two unranked players took him to 3 sets in qualifying, which suggests not. Oh well, I hope Oli can escape in the tiebreak!

as long as you're not getting SO confused you end up 'clutching' your 'you know what' . . . smile

You're right, Bob, somethings are better left unsaid . . . (smile)

AND Oliver wins . . . . .

I suppose a win is a win and to be fair this was Oli's first match for a month but it isn't the most encouraging of results.

Yes. Oli pulls through to win after saving MPs in the 3rd set.

I am sure Oli's confidence levels are not where he would like them to be at the moment so any win is a good win.

Really happy for him

Wels, wels, wels, that was scary! (igmc)

Lang was a top 50 junior and given that he was out with injury for so long, it's hard to gauge whether he could have playing well enough to trouble Oli even if the latter wasn't having a really bad day, but it's possible he is pretty good and just beginning to find some form after those 11 months out. My guess is Oli had a really bad day, but at least he pulled through!

At least Oli won, playing sub par and winning is fine by me.

Perhaps I misjudged Oli's level of confidence - or is he just trying to tell me something.

Never in doubt today even at 2 mps down now for a little post match recovery swim
