RE: Week 32 - Great Britain F16 ($15,000) - Chiswick (Hard)

Josh breaks to 15, holds to 30 and breaks again to 15 - winning the third set 7-5

Hugo will not be a happy 'lapin' . . .

Well done Josh, will be interesting to see how his match with Hewitt goes in the next round. I'm still gutted he has decided to call it a day, hits the ball so well, just needed to be more attacking like he used to be!

Excellent win. I suspect Josh is only playing as it is on his doorstep and will only cost petrol money.

I foreigner down, 3 to go.

Saw that match between Liam and Josh in 2011, both were on a high at the time.

Lloyd Glasspool seems to have Jules Marie in a spin at the start of their match and has raced to a 4-1* lead.

Edit

Oops. Spoke too soon.  Marie breaks back and we are on serve again.

Lloyd 4-3*

Liam races through the third set in record time (6-0), downing one of the trio of Joshs (Joshes?).

JWH has got back the break.
JG 4*-3.
Lloyd battling hard.

Add: lots of close games mid-set but ultimately Jules proves too strong and beats Lloyd 6-2

Josh G's tweet:

joshua goodall ‏@joshuagoodall 1h

There's still life in the "old dog" yet! #serve&volley

Of course, maybe he's only doing it for Bob in Spain and the Great 20 in 500 Top Challenge . . . as indy says, come on lads, come on james !

and a nice tweet from Lloyd too :

Lloyd Glasspool ‏@LloydGlasspool 57m

57 75 26. Couldn't bring the level, point after point. Patchy. Quickest guy ever but played very well in part. Positive and improving #fight

The first set of the day to finish is rather surprising - Adam Thornton-Brown has taken it 6-1 against top seed Westerhof! Boy oh Boy (you might say ...)

Dan S is 5-1 up against Roy too

I have watched Thornton-Brown play a couple of times and I have never seen him do anything to make me think there is a decent player there. He has just 3 futures main draw wins in his career. As a wild card he beat the unranked qualifier John Rambotas at Roehampton in September 2011. As a lucky loser he beat qualifier James Ireland at Chiswick in September 2012. Ireland had beat Thornton-Brown in qualifying and served for a routine 2 set win in there first round match but was broken from 40-0 and somehow lost the match in 3. Then his third win was this week against fellow qualifier David Porter.

It is going to be tough now as Westerhof has just gone a break up in the decider.

ATB serving to stay in the match at *3-5
