Another confidence boosting win for Emily She has played Benamar twice before, each of them winning one match in straight sets, but both matches were back in 2007. Perhaps more to the point, Benamar upset Naomi in Granby a couple of weeks ago, so it won't be easy.
A very convincing last two sets from Jade, by the looks of it - she has now won the last five times she has recovered from a set down to level the match at 1 set all. Having beaten one under-ranked college player in Hardebeck (at Stanford), she will play another in Anderson, who is at UCLA and beat the 2nd seed today.
It looks like Naomi made a bit of a meal of her match (again) and even the odds suggested she was favourite to lose the 3rd set when it got there ... but that also makes it all the more impressive that she pulled through. Not much to add about Miyamura - a quick skim through her results makes it look like her ranking tells a true story.

The biggest problem with any of the girls qualifying is that the open spots in the MD are, one against the 4th seed Julia Glushko and another 2 against either Sam or Tara
All with a decent chance now to qualify - well done and hopefully all three will get through to join our other representatives in the main draw.
That would (in the absence of lucky loser places) imply at least one all-GB match in R1.
Btw when I thanked Sally, I meant to add the following, though please ignore what follows, Sally, if what I suggest would be a lot more hassle or or if this suggestion gets shouted down before you see it!
When it becomes clear that you are the only person posting updates on the match, I wonder if it would be better to do something like one or two posts per set and keep editing them (I know someone on this forum does it like that, can't remember who at the moment) - the advantages from the reader's point of view are that the match all ends up on 1 or 2 pages, making it easier to take in what happened later on. Also, it would make any other information that people post during the match (like next opponent details) easier to find later - though I realise that you made the effort to collate all the results and give us the FQR draw at the end in this case.
Obviously, as soon as it becomes clear that other people are getting involved, the advantages of doing a new post each time start to outweigh the disadvantages, but when that isn't happening ... well, it's just a thought from this reader's point of view.

I concur with this suggestion as I have trouble scrolling through pages of what for me are too many posts that I don't read as I am following the matches on LS anyway.
Wow that's a tough draw for JoKo, Jo loves playing the orthodox flat hitting asian players, but unfortunately her opponent doesn't play in that style. Saw quite a bit of their match at Eastbourne and although competitive Hsieh Su-Wei just had too much in her locker. Hopefully Jo can close the gap this time, but ultimately it will probably depend on which Hsieh Su-Wei turns up.

Good suggestion and I will start doing that going forwards!
