That was a really great match to watch .... its just a pity that Sam lost ........but it made it plain to see just why Sam is going to be ranked in the top 200.
Date-Krumms come ons were annoying me anyone else? Both Sam and Jade deserved to win I felt. Watched both games at the same time they seemed to play well at the same time which was weird.

Just makes you wonder why she wasn't in the top 200 already. That was the most exciting match I've watched since the Wimbledon Final ... with embarrassing 'come ons' at the screen to match I loved the way she kept going for her shots right to the end ... and they so often came off. If she could make her serve a bit more reliable, who knows how high she could go.

Great effort by Sam, if she remains confident, I think a real key with her, she will comfortably sustain a ranking within the top 200, because she truly has the weapons.
Interesting that the 5,6,7 and 8th seeds are all still in at the QF stage but of the top 4 seeds only Date-Krumm at No.2 is still there and she very nearly wasn't!
PS PockyTastic, I agree - I saw most of the second set in the Broady/Murray match up (Naomi's better set, in theory) and thought, yes, she was rushing, yes, she was frustrated (even downright stroppy) but, frankly, if Naomi steadfastly (stubbornly) refuses to address her key technical problems, there's a glass ceiling on her game that has nothing to do with natural skill or potential but will prevent her from ever really making headway - it's like playing with one hand tied behind your back - you can be highly talented and skillful and play your absolute best tennis (and some days it'll be enough to scores some good points) but you'll never win anything half-way major.
A few years back Virginia Wade described Naomi as the player with the most technical issues that needed addressing of any player of that level. Having seen Naomi's two excellent matches at Wimbledon Q, Virginia is still right and it's just a shame that Naomi didn't really do the hard, nasty work back then.
Yep, her serve looked like it could be taken up a few notches too. It's encouraging in some ways in that there's scope for her to be so much better, but I guess making adjustments will take time and she may not be willing to take time out/ risk a run of losses whilst she changes techniques. Maybe if she gets a decent off season she'll work on it? I'm surprised no one at Mourataglou has tried to change her technique...
Bit worried about JoKo, injuries have plagued her career and prevented her from getting to the top 100 sooner. And now again eventhough she won last week without dropping any sets, her body is letting her down again after only 1 and 1/2 matches here. Someone mentioned a foot problem, I'm hoping its maybe just a blister and not anything more sinister.
