Interesting note about Tara is of course throughout the whole year she has been aided by Jeremy Bates. Now of course he has been assigned the task of helping Hev, not saying it has had any influence but I just wonder whether deep down there is a little bit of irritation there. Because this is probably one of her most disappointing performances of the season.

Don't know how much he's been there recently though? During her run to the final at Woking it was Jane O'Donoghue and Iain Bates who where there helping her out.
It's Tara's first really rubbish day for a while (OK, she shouldn't have lost that 25K final, perhaps, but at least she got to it), she clearly knows it and Imanishi is a player on the way up who played in Canada the previous two weeks and had 3 rounds of qualies to get used to the courts here, so I'm hopeful today was just a temporary blip.

It was just a thought and probably one that was completely wide of the mark.
Neither player is playing at what I would call their best. Jo broke serve 3 times in a row and was broken back 3 times in a row, twice when serving for the set. I would still say this is a WTA level match rather than an ITF level.
Brilliant - revenge for Eastbourne and JoKo's 2nd top 50 scalp (the first that has not involved a retirement)
L32: Johanna Konta WR 147 beat (1) Hsieh Su-Wei (TPE) WR 41 (CH 23 in Feb) - H2H 0-1, Eastbourne this year by 7-6(5) 6-4 L32: (Q) Jade Windley WR 334 beat (WC) Sanaz Marand (USA) WR 316 (= CH, won a 25K in Texas last month) by 2 & 4 L32: (Q) Emily Webley-Smith WR 421 lost to (4) Julia Glushko (ISR) WR 123 (CH 105 earlier this month after winning Waterloo 25K) by 3 & 2 L32: Tara Moore WR 189 lost to (Q) Miharu Imanishi (JPN) WR 353 (CH 352 last month after winning Bukhara 25K, lost to JoKo in last week's QFs) by 2 & 2 L32: Samantha Murray WR 213 beat (Q) Naomi Broady WR 309 (H2H 1-1, both this year) by 1 & 4
L16: Johanna Konta WR 147 v (Q) Jade Windley WR 334 - H2H 2-0, both 2008 (3 & 3 at junior Wimbledon, 3 & 4 at Felixstowe 25K) L16: Samantha Murray WR 213 v (2) Kimiko Date-Krumm (JPN) WR 66 (CH 4 in 1995) - H2H 0-1, 3 & 2, Toyota 75K+H SF last year
At stake - a definite new career high for JoKo if she wins (though she might have done enough already depending on other results) or easily into the top 300 for Jade if she wins. A win for Sam would make her GB no. 4 ahead of Tara.

I stopped watching half way through the second set but I think you summed it up just right - on the down side, a really rubbish day, but on the plus side, the first really rubbish day for ages.
Tara's tweet said it was 'dreadful'. . . .
But woke up to great news re Jo - very impressive!
PS PockyTastic, I agree - I saw most of the second set in the Broady/Murray match up (Naomi's better set, in theory) and thought, yes, she was rushing, yes, she was frustrated (even downright stroppy) but, frankly, if Naomi steadfastly (stubbornly) refuses to address her key technical problems, there's a glass ceiling on her game that has nothing to do with natural skill or potential but will prevent her from ever really making headway - it's like playing with one hand tied behind your back - you can be highly talented and skillful and play your absolute best tennis (and some days it'll be enough to scores some good points) but you'll never win anything half-way major.
A few years back Virginia Wade described Naomi as the player with the most technical issues that needed addressing of any player of that level. Having seen Naomi's two excellent matches at Wimbledon Q, Virginia is still right and it's just a shame that Naomi didn't really do the hard, nasty work back then.
Only my view, of course, and I wish her all the best (and to young master Broady today too . . .)
Brilliant result from JoKo overnight. It looks to have been the perfect tactic by her to ease her way in at the lower level of a $25k event as she is now on a good run of wins and has maintained the momentum against a top 50 opponent.
Sam plays Date-Krumm third on Centre
