Naomi hasn't been at her best for more than 18 months, whereas Sam has steadily improved. 2 years ago this scoreline would probably have been reversed.

Great win for Jade who is playing the best tennis of her life.

2cd set Jo serving 1st, Hseih breaks Jo twice in a row, Jo breaks back twice in a row, on her 3rd service game Jo manages a hold 3-2*

Jo breaks once more then holds once more for 5-2*

Hseih then holds for first time this set and breaks Jo in the next game for 5-4*

But JO breaks back for a 7-6(5) 6-4 win biggrin

Not quite a career high scalp (Hseih is ranked 41 this week) but another top 50 win.

Of course I nearly forgot she now faces Jade!!!!

Only caught a snippet of the Naomi-Sam match. Naomi seemed to be rushing between points, hitting a fair few DFs and getting a little frustrated. Her backhand was a lot crisper than I remembered it but still oddly constructed.

Clear early on that Imanishi won't be recording many winners or unforced errors, so just a case of can Tara make a high enough percentage of balls in play. I think she will.

Not the best game I have seen Tara play!!

Too many points are being played out through long rallies which suit Imanishi who has looked very solid so far. Tara's serve was the main culprit for that break though, 1-4*

At the moment Tara is being to passive early in the rallies which leads to impatience and an unforced error. I think she needs to try and get a big first strike in early on otherwise this is going to be very hard to win.
