RE: Week 31 - Challenger ($100,000) - Vancouver, Canada (Hard)

Yeah looking a bit more focussed again, it was just one sloppy game that cost him that second set, and I get the feeling that one strong return game would win him this one.

Excellent hold from Dan for 3-2, couple of tasty drop shots thrown in. Just needs to get stuck into Weintraub's serve again.

Whatever happens here I am delighted to see Dan playing with this level of aggression and intensity. The difference between this week and last week is astonishing.

Weintraub finds a few first serves and forces Dan to serve it out. Dan to serve at 5-3 with new balls.

Well done Evo. What is with this sudden outbreak of serving out matches to love? Wardy in the final on Sunday and Evo today.

These Brits like it down the west coast....

I caught the match on livestream from 2-1* final set and I must say evans was the much better player - and what a clinical last service game.

The great part this year about Evo is that when he's playing well he looks like a solid top 100 player, that is a big improvement from last year. He's also done it more consistently.
I'd go as far to say that is capable of winning a tournament of this stature if he maintains this form.

So good to see Dan putting together two excellent performances at a 100K level tournament. And a foreign one at that.

Because, although it's been mentioned before, this is a player (WR248) who has 18 ranking events of which only 1 (ONLY ONE) comes from outside the UK - it's truly staggering.

I did not see dans match last week, but I did text him to say everybody and his dog where slagging him off
on the forum, looks like it might have had an effect.
