Evo robbed at deuce on Donskoy's serve, weak umpire failed to overrule with a ball at least half a foot wide.. Dan hauls himself back into it though and its a BP.. saved. Deuce 4.. game point, and its 3-1, Dan is not a happy camper right now, linespeople beware!
One of the best defensive plays I've ever seen there from Dan.. incredible tracking down of a lob and hits a clean winner of the smash. It's 0-30, 2 points away. 0-40. 3 match points for Dan Evans... first 2 erased, and an awful lack of a call again on a clear out serve.
Deuce. And now a 4th match points.
WINS! Evans wins 3-6 6-4 6-4
Great battling performance from Dan, served 11 double faults but returned well when it mattered.
Exactly Steven. Unfortunately there is way too much analysis of people's impressions when it comes to Dan.
Johnnylad, there is only one possible explanation to your defensiveness - that you didnt watch Evo play last week. Perhaps reserve your own judgement for matches that you have actually seen, because RJA is completely right on this one.
Congrats to Dan, fantastic win and certainly a fairer reflection on his ability than last weeks result. Perhaps seeing Wardy take the title has got Dan's focus back!?
I was glad to see that Dan began settling after the first set- even sitting down for the full alotted time on the change of ends (to the surprise of the commentator) and his level soon shot up. If he had done the same vs Jaziri I think he would have got the W then too.

Yes, of course - I would much rather celebrate a good win than berate a player for a poor performance so I am more than happy to do that.
I understand what you're saying about criticising him and I would normally agree - but I do think it takes a lot (or at least an above average amount) to make posters here be harsh on a British player and in this case I certainly think thats definitely the case, thats all I'm trying to say!
Anyways, back to Dan, interesting to see how far he can go. I would love a deep run, he really should be making the weekend of these challengers if he maintains his level.

Maybe, but his performance last week was truly bizarre and certainly warranted the criticism it received on here.
I didn't see last night's match so I can't really comment on it other than to say it was a great result and hopefully he will back it up, Weintraub is is certainly beatable in the next round and if he faces Rochus in the QFs that is also winnable. The Belgian was awful against Ward last week and only just got through what should have been a pretty comfortable first round match here.
