It's easy to be smart after the event, but do we now think it was okay for Dan to give up the first set once he knew it was a lost cause. My own view would be that it was, as long as he used the final few games to learn from his opponent, e.g. looking for where he most often placed his returns, serves etc. I don't know if Dan did, but you'd like to think that was exactly what he was doing.
It certainly looks like he was right to do so. As I say to my mind it depends on the player. To some players digging in and fighting back to at least hold serve would be a boost, but it looks like it worked out for Dan just letting it go and focussing his mind and energy on set 2.
Tried taking a step back and not posting, but find that I have to. Following this in Germany. Only got you guys to keep me up to date with what's happening. Evo proving as unpredictable as usual. Bring on the 3rd!!!

Spot on. It varies from player to player but in Evans case it probably isn't too bad a thing.
Oh dear, some cracking play from both in a great rally but it's Pospisil who comes out on top and we're back on serve with the Canadian next up at *3-4
Well, Andy Murray's tweet told him to fight all the way. And he certainly did. (NB Love th photo of Andy and the other two watching Dan on a little laptop).
And Dan sounds happy enough, off to California, thanking everyone for the support.
Would have been a brilliant win but it was still a brilliant tournament. Into the top 200 . . .
WR 194 !
