RE: Week 31 - Challenger ($100,000) - Vancouver, Canada (Hard)

Evo gets one of the two breaks back. Serving now at 2-5, needs to stop throwing it away with the double faults and unforced errors.

And again from 30-40 Evo takes the game. Hopefully he can do a little bit more on Donskoy's next service game. Once again Dan is playing very, very quickly. Seems to be getting a little irritated when he's made to wait but just needs to focus on his game.

3-2 Evo. Little more comfortable that time but still not making much impact on Donskoy's serve.

Evo's luck finally runs out, 4-3 to Donskoy with the break. I know we're all aware Dan can be a little bit unpredictable but he seems to be desperate to get through the match and not really bothered if its a win or a loss.

But Dan breaks straight back to 30 in the next game, 4-4

Thanks very much for the updates - he certainly did it the hard way this time! Which makes me think - whatever impression he might have given off, you surely can't beat a top 100 player (at least not from a set and a break down AND a break down in the 3rd!) when you don't care about the result ... so maybe he's more committed to this than his on-court demeanour makes out

Anyway, R2 will be interesting, I really hope he can build on last night and get some decent points this week!

L32: Dan Evans WR 248 beat (1) Evgeny Donskoy (RUS) WR 84 (CH 65, 3 wks ago) by 3-6 6-4 6-4 biggrin

L16: Dan Evans WR 248 v Amir Weintraub (ISR) WR 209 (CH 161 in 2012)

Dan can be infuriating to watch sometimes. Too often it seems like he lacks not only his head but a real want for victory.

Now then Dan, takes the second set 6-4 with a beautiful forehand down the line. One set shootout to take out the number 1 seed and world number 84

I suppose nothing with British tennis is ever straight forward! Let's hope Dan can get his head in gear and power through this last set.

Dan gives up the break for 2-1, as the annoying USTA commentator points out, just getting a little sloppy with his footwork at times. Come on Evo, bring it back.
