I did not see dans match last week, but I did text him to say everybody and his dog where slagging him off on the forum, looks like it might have had an effect.
Well you can tell him we are all behind him the slagging justified though but it's because we were behind him that he got the slagging if that makes sense. His target for this year should be top 200 by year end and around the 100-115 mark next summer so he won't need a Wimbledon Wild Card. That would be funny

For a split second, I thought you were being serious
Re. US Open qualies - a cut of 235 would mean Dan was about 13 places out. Given that withdrawals from both the main draw and the qualifying lists will move him up, as will any main draw wild cards given to those in the qualifying list, I'd say he was very likely to get in.

I've watched the whole of Dan's match at Lexington last week, and both of his two matches so far here in Vancouver.
The berating he took last week was COMPLETELY justified - pro tennis players are generally advised to watch the match they're playing in rather than the one on court next to them...
BUT
The praise he's getting this week is just as deserved. Dan has had to battle hard at times in both matches here, but when he's been focused and aggressive he's looked streaks ahead of these guys. When he got going, he made Donskoy (who let's not forget is 72 in the world and a full tour player) look distinctly average. If he is actually, genuinely aware of what was said after last week, I don't really care, because whatever's gone on in his head since then, it's paying off for him this week. A winnable quarter final and if he can get through that he'll be looking at some strong points and, of course, decent cash!
As Steven says, Dan should be in comfortably for USO qualifying and I would say that the courts at Flushing Meadows are quite well suited to his game. A strong end to the year will hopefully give Dan the motivation (if he needs it) to push on and really make something happen next year.
Oh, and I apologise not one iota for my own frustrations and criticisms of Evo, vented quite regularly in this forum over the last few years.
Gee guys and gals, we are a British tennis forum expressing diverge but usually considered views on British tennis and the players. Evo himself effectively expressed some of these frustrations himself earlier this year.
Thankfully there are enough folk around that think similarly that this will never become just a cheerleader non critical forum.
More and more Evo has in recent months shown his potential to certainly be a top 150 player within the next year and very possibly quite a bit higher than that. It's really good to see.
As for US Open qualifying. Dan is 12th Alternate and normally somewhere between 15th and 20th alt gets into Grand Slam qualifying so Dan will be very, very unlucky not to make it.
Hoss, if you are in touch with him I'd rather you didn't text him about our comments. Surely he has more important things to think about than what a few of us have to say about his play. Dan will know what his performance was down to and he doesn't have to justify it to anyone.
I'm all for expressing your views on here, but Dan owes us nothing. We can choose whether to cheer him on or not.

Ah, OK, fair enough - I'd have thought it was the last thing he'd want to hear (and he would probably react accordingly) but if you thought it might push him to "show the stupid forum" (or similar) and it did, that's brilliant
