Given that he has already announced his retirement (just playing the odd event while he gets his coaching qualifications), there's an easy answer to that onewink

Smethurst broke in the opening game of the decider but Cox took the next 6 games to a secure a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win.

Hewitt took the first set 7-6(5)

That's Dan Cox's 9th win in a row and his 18th win in his last 20 matches! (referring to singles only in each case)

I've also just realised while starting to prepare next week's GB top 25 table that on 12 Aug, Dan will have jumped from GB no. 18 to GB no. 8 in just 5 weeks & could go as high as GB no. 7 if he wins the Final or even GB no. 6 if he wins the Final and Alex Ward doesn't score any points in a Challenger next week.

This is Ashley's first tournament for over a month, isn't it ?

I seem to remember it getting mentioned previously but can't remember if the answer - anyone know why ? It's a long gap fro this time of year. Was he doing some sort of studies ? Or injured post Israel ?

Added - see below: Thanks Josh - slightly surprised by a big training block at this time of year but all part of the grand scheme of things, I guess. NB Is that the golf driving range ? Is this something I'm missing from my tennis ???

Ashley serves first to start the final, serves 2 double faults in first three points slipping to 0-40, takes the next 5 points to hold.

Final underway then!

Just a training block I think. Lots of photos on twitter and instagram of him and George Morgan either in the gym or on the driving range.
