This will be Rona's first ITF main draw.

Btw, can't help thinking French player Pauline Payet might have had a bit of chuckle when she saw she was playing a Russian called Merdeeva! ("I bet she's sh.." kind of thing )

Rona's record consists of one junior match in 2010, five pro matches in April 2011 and then this tournament. She is now 19.

She seems to have put a lot of effort in then recently with the British tour so I'm glad it's worked out for her on the main tour. I really hope she can go even further though, all the best to her!

Giulia Bruzzone is actually ranked 862 today. The reason why I assumed she had to be top 1000 by now (and so checked) is because she was the player who beat Dasha in the Final the week before last. So not a nice draw for Rona, even if the Italian isn't seeded!

Dasha's 15-year-old opponent is the current African junior champion and world junior no. 53 (CH 37 in March), so she can't be taken lightly either.
