A tough draw for Dave too then - Fucsovics was the Wimbledon boys' champ in 2010, is at a career high and can play very well. However, he does have erratic results. For example, he won his first Challenger title by beating James Ward in the An Ning Final in early May before losing to James in R1 the following week and has only won two matches since. He had to withdraw from Astana last week for what the drawsheet calls personal reasons.

Dave just missed the top 400 today (another new career high though - 401) but should be certain to make it next Monday - 98 points is enough to get into the 380s in this week's list.

Thats right Steven, applaud averageness as ever.   Celebrating or even bothering to mention someone and their potential to reach the top 380, that well known landmark?

I remember the btnet celebration when Josh Goodall first broke into the top 380.

Sounds like someone has a) lost a bet b)has anger management problems or c) is seriously unhappy with one or more aspects of their personal life. Either way, if you dont want updates on challenger qualifying matches then tennis forums are not for you...especially those dedicated for British players so please spew your bile elsewhere you boring, petty individual.

Sally, thanks a lot for the updates. Always very handy for anyone not able to catch scores themselves. PS. Congrats Mr Rice biggrin

After only a couple of BP, it's 5-5 and Dave suddenly gets 3 BPs - - - and can't convert . . .

after all the effort of saving the BPs, Marton serves a DF, another BP, but sadly not enough - Marton takes the game. Dave : 5*-6

And: dave 0-30 down. Back to 30-30. SP to Marton. saves it. another one - and saved. Yet another - and saved again. And FINALLY he holds - first set TB . . .

Alex broken to 40 and A B-D leads *1-0

A B-D leads *3-2 (Alex pegged back to deuce there but survived)

Alex putting pressure on his opponent's serve but can't break back. A B-D leads 4-2*

More BPs for A B-D. Alex saves 2 and hangs on for 3-4*

At 4-4 in the second, Alex successfully defends 4 BP and holds.

Is this the turning point ????

Sally, why don't you go into your post and edit it and post the REALLY good news ???

PS Sally, I haven't got a 'more' option either . . .

edit: well, that didn;t work  crycry Alex gets broken. BUT while there's life, there's hope and all that . . .

Dave loses the first set TB 7-4, serving a DF.

Not a single ace for either man in the whole set - weird . . .

He was 0-4 in the tiebreak, so that was always going to be tough to come back from. Unfortunately, he is now *0-4 & 3 more bps down in the 2nd set too

Dave saves the first two bps but then double faults on the 3rd and the Hungarian will serve for the bagel
