Boys & Girls: European Junior Championships U18, Klosters, Switzerland - Grade B1 (Week 30)

The warm-up tournaments haven't been particularly encouraging in singles for our 4 representatives, so the best hope for a long run is in doubles. The girls event is headed by the top 4 players in the world rankings.

Boys R2 (L64)

Mantas Bugailiskis (LTU) v Alexander Sendegeya (GBR)

Peter Ashley v Dino Vucidolov (MKD)

Girls R2 (L64)

Carla Touly (FRA) v Isabelle Wallace (GBR)

(15) Harriet Dart (GBR) v Nanette Nylund (FIN)

(15) Harriet Dart (GBR) v Nanette Nylund (FIN)

Round 2 completed with Alex continuing his poor form on clay. It will need an upset for any of the three to progress further. Harriet's opponent is ranked around 500 WTA

Peter Ashley d. Dino Vucidolov (MKD) 6-2 6-0

Daniel Valent (SUI) v Peter Ashley

Girls R2 (L64)

Isabelle Wallace (GBR) d. Carla Touly (FRA) 6-1 7-6(5)
(15) Harriet Dart (GBR) d. Nanette Nylund (FIN) 6-0 6-0

R3

(9) Sara Sorribes Tormo (ESP) v Isabelle Wallace (GBR)

Pete was the first match on today, so your source must have updated very quickly. An impressive win for him given that clay is not his best surface, and a decent chance of further progress. The girls suffered defeats as expected, and there were losses for both doubles teams.

Boys R3

Peter Ashley d. Daniel Valent (SUI) 6-1 6-2

R4

Peter Ashley v Jonathan Mridha (SWE)

Girls R3

(9) Sara Sorribes Tormo (ESP) d. Isabelle Wallace (GBR) 6-2 6-1
Rebecca Peterson (SWE) d. (15) Harriet Dart (GBR)  6-4 6-1

Is that just a typo on Harriet's result then?

Pete couldn't take advantage of his draw, so all remaining interest in the European Championships is with the under 14s

R4

Jonathan Mridha (SWE) d. Peter Ashley 6-3 7-6(5)
