Week 30 - ITF ($100K) - Astana, Kazakhstan Hard

That's not too bad as a R1 draw but Lisa is in the toughest quarter, I would say, with 5th seed Buyukakcay and top seed Koehler.

Palkina has only played Brits in singles twice, both times in Pune, India - she lost to Naomi Cavaday in 2005 and to Mel South in 2008.

Lisa won the second set 6-3 and broke straight away in the third !!!!

Edit : and got broken straight back - cry

But with 6 breaks a piece, it's hardly the end of the world . . .

I admire the tournament selection too.

But not so much losing the last 6 games in a row from a break up in the final set to a player ranked ~100 places below her. Let's be honest, from that position she should be winning this match.........it's possible the opponent raised her game, but 6 games in a row would suggest either a physical or mental collapse.

Shame

Play restarted 10-15 minutes ago and the match before Lisa's has just finished.

Lisa broke at 4-5* after saving set points, only to be broken again. She had two break points at 5-6* but Palkina held on to take the set 7-5.

Come on Lisa!

I think I noticed her getting broken back in the 2nd set and then breaking again before serving it out.

The third set has been terribly close - BP to both - but Lisa has come out the wrong side of it (so far).

4-1* to Palkina

Lisa lost 6-1 in the third set. Long way to go with little reward.
