Has Evo suddenly rediscovered a sense of commitment?

Playing doubles normally ensures a certain level of commitment as most people don't want to let their partner down.

Yeah I am pleased for Dan and Wardy. Whatever the enigma of Dan Evans life is never dull with him on or off the tennis court. He is my favourite British men player followed by Ashley Hewitt. I hope being with James Ward will make Dan push on he is definitely top 200 on ability or higher

Let's hope both Evans and Ward are in the top 200 soon, what's the cutoff for US open qualies?

Entry deadline for US Open qualifying is next Monday. The final cut off is normally around 250-260 so Ward is easily in and Evo should be as well.

Would you rate their chances of actually qualifying?

Ward has a decent chance, especially if he keeps serving well.

As for Evo, it depends how he plays, if he puts in the same disgraceful lack of effort that he did here then no chance at all. If he actually gives it his best shot then he has a chance.

Dan and James' doubles underway. Dan sounds up for it judging by his tweets.

A familiar opponent on the other side of the net for James in the QF:

Could the whippersnapper be about to extract his revenge?  First set down the pan by 4-6. hmm

Just watched this second set. Not the best quality. James' serve just broken, but there were 3 UEs from Dan which caused it. Dan doesn't look on form at all, although James' play is tip top.

Sadly, yes:

QF:  Austin Krajicek & Mitch Krueger (USA/USA) CR 775 defeated Dan Evans & James Ward CR 1430 by 4 & 4 cry

I saw a bit of the R1 match and got the same impression then - James looked to be in really great form and Dan played the odd really good shot then his mind seemed to go completely AWOL for a few points.

I also noticed that he looked a lot happier when they had lost points than when they had won them, which is something that someone also remarked upon in his singles match. I wonder though if that's more a defence mechanism rather than him really not caring ... as if someone has trained him to smile and put a bad point behind him rather than taking it out on the flowerpots or similar. Maybe I'm just being naive, but things aren't always as they seem.

Anyway, since James is still in singles here, if I had to choose one of them to be on really good form tomorrow (or rather, it's now today), I'd choose James, so that part of it is ok

Wardy's match is scheduled for the main streamed court but not before midnight UK time.
