Because, as I understand it from those who have seen him live, he doesn't have a "strong" serve even for Futures level. A perfectly decent serve perhaps, a serve that gets him a few aces, but not one which anyone is going to look at and say.....how do I break "THAT!"

Well yeah, It was a bit of a rhetorical question.
So I presume you agree about the serve issue.
Yes. Serve is pretty weak and all in all Tom doesn't have a "big" game but he is tough cookie on the tennis court and never goes away without a fight.
From a set down, MPs down in the 2nd set tiebreak (surely), *2-5 down in the 3rd and multiple match points down in the 3rd set tiebreak, Tom wins 4-6 7-6(10) 7-6(9)

Generally losing your first 3 points on serve in a TB is not a winning strategy, unless you are Tom it seems!

There were definitely 2 MPs in the 2nd set tiebreak and another one with Kelly-Houston serving at *5-4 40-30, plus who knows how many in the 3rd set breaker. I was on my lunch break !
