That's a real testament to Jade's doggedness and grit - that second set was so close, she had SP at 5-3 on her own serve and couldn't convert - lots of other players would have had a major wobble but she hung in and got a very nice win.

From what I can see, Sam has zero points to defend next week (although a 4 pointer will be pushed off) and Jade only one, so both of them will be at a new CH when these points get added.

And good chances in R2 as well - could be a bumper tournament !

Naomi could have done with the rain coming 30 mins earlier. She looked on course for a tiebreak at *4-5 in 2nd set yet to be broken. I'd be surprised if Naomi recovers from here. Really needed to hold serve.
