L32: Matt Short WR 792 v (Q) Grégoire Jacq (FRA) WR 1208
L32: (Q) Toby Martin WR 1020 v (6) Denis Bejtulahi (SRB) WR 654

No less than 4 LLs made it into the main draw here (unfortunately, 3 of them in the top half of the draw with the Brits in the bottom half) and Toby is one of a run of 5 qualifiers next to each other in the draw, but unfortunately he was the one who got the seed in R1

In the doubles, Matt is playing with Djoko's kid brother, Djordje, and Toby is playing with Antun Vidak and are number two seeds.

Serving at 3-6 *1-5 down, Toby saved 3 match point and held for 2-5* - probably not the start of an amazing comeback, but where there's life ...

4-5* but Bejtulahi now has another chance to serve it out and gets another match point ... but Toby saves it and breaks again - now it's *5-5!

Bejtulahi was ahead in his service game and it looked like they were heading for a tiebreak, but no - Toby breaks again, winning his 6th game in a row and taking the 2nd set 7-5 from *1-5 0-40 down!

Steven, you have to be the world's best 'one man believer' !

Now, if you could keep sending the same vibes ALL the way through the third set . . .

So Toby won 8 games in a row from 3-6 1-5 0-40, to be 1 set all and *2-0 in the third.

Then loses 6 games in a row.

2 options. I think it could be the second.

1. James Ward-itis: in a winning position by playing with nothing-to-lose freedom, then gets ultra defensive/safe as soon as the winning line approaches, giving the opponent back the initiative.

2. Something happened to Toby early in the third set. I noticed the scores stopped moving for ages at 2-1*, so I wonder if Toby sustained an injury.....he barely won a point from 2-2.
