Oli's got a big game, has had injuries , so its going to take him longer than say someone who relies on consistency rather than aggressive shots.
When Oli regains all his confidence, and his game develops/gets physically stronger together with mental maturity, watch out, top 100 is well within his capabilities.

Easy peasy then.
1. Develop your game much more AND
2. Get physically much stronger AND
3. Turn your lack of maturity into mental maturity which is a key strength AND
4. Build up your confidence
AND a top 100 position is yours for the taking.
But this is true for every professional tennis player out there.....problem is that it's hard and very few ever tick all those boxes.
Oli goes down 6-3, 6-2. Cue the Oli onslaught from the usual suspects....
I think you must be mistaking this for another forum. There has never been an onslaught against Oli on this forum, merely an acknowledgement that his form this year has been hugely disappointing and a feeling among some of us that he lack of maturity, often in evidence on twitter, has contributed to that.
While I don't think that there's been a deliberate "onslaught against Oli," it is true that almost every time he has lost a match in recent months, it's proved the occasion for some discussion of how "disappointing" or "poor" his results have been generally. It does get a bit repetitive; perhaps we could just allow the results to speak for themselves (or be set into context, as by CD's very helpful comments on players we may not know) and give the generalised comments a bit of a break for a while?

I'm sure every talented player, with perhaps 1 or 2 superstar exceptions, goes through a period the the way up where they hit a roadblock (ranking, results, physicality, talent, tactics) which they either work through and overcome or let it beat them. I'm sure it will happen to Kyle at some point, hopefully not until he is already top 100 and needs that little extra. In a way it even happened to Nole and Andy, albeit after they had reached #3 or #4 but couldn't quite go all the way.
I wish Oli would cut out the hystrionics on and off court, avoid his various spats, stop communicating so much to the world for a while, and calmly and systematically improve his game, his physical attributes and his mental approach to tennis and life in general. In a way, just as Phil suggested. I also think the LTA should ban themselves from mentioning him in public until he demonstrates sustained success.....unfortunately once again Mr Draper (and what a ****-up the recruitment process for his replacement seems to have been) could not resist bringing up Oli as evidence in his defence at one of his (conspicuously) rare interviews during Wimbledon.
Perhaps "less is more" should be his new mantra. Less hot air and bluster, more relentless boring behind-the-scenes self-improvement and modesty.
Quick break, lots of training, then hopefully some second half good performances to warm the soul!!! Good luck Oli!
i am not a Golding fan dont know the boy but I think too much hype by the media after his performances as a Junior.
wild cards for Wimbledon and Queens club have added to the expectation!
Hopefully he will mature and go up the rankings.
I think most people on here want him to do well but his tweets dont lend to his likeability. However he is young and I think social media is dangerous. He is tweeting after a match maybe his advisors should tell him to analyse his match before tweeting a couple of hours later.
Saw the Draper interview so smug because of British success in tennis. We have three world class players Andy Laura and Heather, How many of these three had much input from the Lta?
When the second ranked British man is not in top 250 then the Lta should be looking at that not basking in the glory of Andys win.

I fear that modesty has not been a trait which has been encouraged in Oli from an early age. I remember being directed by forum members to the website he used to have. It was odious!
