Kulichkova held a bit too easily (to love) but Tara then held to 30 to ensure at least a tiebreak in the 2nd set. 4-6 6-5*

yes, me too. Or if Eliza K. is a particularly aggressive returner and Tara is trying too hard on the second ? 

 

No idea about the match but, from the score, Tara's looked pretty beaten at times and yet she's two points from the second set - she's got a great battling spirit . .

Tiebreak time - Tara got an early mini-break but just lost one of her serves - 3-2* ... & now 3-3* at the changeover.

Kulichkova ended up winning the first 5 games of the 3rd set ... however, Tara has won the last two so while it's still dire, there's still hope - 4-6 7-6(5) *2-5

She looked so close to regular WTA level performer on the 3 UK grass events it's hard not to be really disappointed by this result - even accepting any caveats about surface, opponent, etc.
The balls tend to go in the court more often... if you hit them there!

Bally used to be like that though and she managed to sort it out over time - my guess is that Tara will manage it even younger, though there will always be some days like this.

This was always going to be a toughie, not her grass court form but still up with her general form for the year, so not too bad.
