Emily got bagelled in the 1st set (not as convincingly as Kieser, I hasten to add!) and went 2-4 down in the 2nd but has now pulled it back to 4-4*

No luck for Emily in the end but Naomi showed the local girl (no record on ITF, but I get the impression she's about 15) no mercy, winning 51 of the 67 points!

Fantastic win - that doubles win will have done wonders for her confidence and Naomi is a confidence player.

Tough final quali against Boserup who is returning from sometime out. Will be a real test of how Naomi is playing.

That seems like a really good win for Naomi given that Scholl was a top 8 junior just over a year ago aged 16 and reached the Final of a 25K last time out

I can't work out why Sacramento was the first pro tour event Boserup had played since November (i.e. whether it was injury, illness, college or something else) but she reached the QFs there and beat the 4th Q seed convincingly today, so her CH probably gives a better idea of how good she is than her current ranking.

If she manages to qualify it's a choice between the 5th or 8th seed, a WC and a player ranked 267.

Very impressive play from Naomi. She has very little to defend for the rest of the year and looking at the calibre of players who were (narrowly) beating her on grass, I think Naomi has been playing better than she has been given credit for. Time to start climbing Naomi!
