I don't think Goodall was taking this event particularly seriously so the result isn't remotely surprisingly.

It's pretty much a similar result to most of his other tournaments this year, where something clearly has stopped clicking for him......and I'd suggest he WAS taking those tournaments very seriously

L16: (5) Marcus Willis WR 559 beat Lorenzo Frigerio (ITA) WR 831 by 4 & 4
L16: (Q) Ryan Peniston UNR lost to (8) Marcus Daniell (NZL) WR 708 by 1 & 2
L16: (4) Daniel Cox WR 517 beat (WC) Julian Cash UNR by 7-6(2) 6-2
L16: (6) Richard Gabb WR 626 beat (Q) Jordan Kelly-Houston (NZL) UNR by 2 & 1
L16: (Q) Ben Lott UNR lost to (2) Antoine Benneteau (FRA) WR 396 by 4 & 2

QF: (7) Tom Farquharson WR 604 v Josh Ward-Hibbert WR 785
QF: (5) Marcus Willis WR 559 v Jonny O'Mara WR 1533 - H2H 1-0, 5-7 7-5 6-3, Newcastle Fut in May
QF: (4) Daniel Cox WR 517 v (8) Marcus Daniell (NZL) WR 708
QF: (6) Richard Gabb WR 626 v (2) Antoine Benneteau (FRA) WR 396

 Some really interesting QF's

Tom F v JWH could be very tight

Marcus should get past Jonny, but Marcus can be very inconsistent

I think Dan will have too much guile for Marcus D(and Dan has new found confidence)

Gabb v Benneteau could be very close. Gabb I believe is much improved and could push him very close or even win.

I'll stick my neck out and say all four GB semis Tom, Marcus, Dan and Richard.

Sounds like it wasn't one of JWH's better serving days, but nevertheless another good win for Tom, who has now played 10 Futures singles QFs this year and won 7 of them!

Jonny fends off three break back points but he finally succumbs on the fourth one.

He then immediately regains the break and leads *4-2

If you look at his reply to me under the Wimbledon Ladies Doubles, you will see that he is referring to the Davis Cup rather than Wimbledon.

Any other guesses?

I didn't think it was surprising, but this view was due to JWH being on good form and Josh G's form being at a lower level.

Wish Josh G all the best for the future as he hasn't been at his best really since at least March if not earlier.

Well done to George and Joe, in particular - close match. Must be exciting for them to be getting to semi-finals, will definitely help them with their singles progression too.

NB Mega congrats to Luke Bambridge - I believe he passed his driving test this morning !!!! Watch out world . . .
