Very much enjoyed reading your report, RJA - are you going again this week ?
Mark, nice to see the front page with several different articles about the Ilkley event, not just one generic tennis one. Also, loved the photos.
Just one point, you say that Joe Salisbury "was looking for the first main tour win of his career" but actually he won two matches last week at the Manchester 10k futures.
In fact, that would be the only thing I'd have changed about your report, there was no mention (that I could see) about Manchester at all i.e. something along the lines of 'Tom Farquharson, runner-up of last week's Futures tournament at Manchester' or 'Dan Cox, winner of . . . '.
The Manchester results aren't included in the players' ATP activity sheet until next week but are the most recent indication of form. (You can find the results on the ITF site).
I'll certainly look at your front page all this week.
Thanks for the updates - I have edited the articles accordingly. It's important to remember that the paper is tailored towards people who may not have a deep lying interest in tennis, so I was trying to keep away from plodding through statistics - although those couple of additions are more than welcome.
Heading over to Ilkley again for around 10.30, play starts at 11.30 GMT, be sure to follow the live updates on Twitter @MarkBGregory or @TheYorksTimes.
16 year old Julian Cash 4-2* up on last week's $10k Futures winner in Manchester, Dan Cox (who has been ranked up around 250 in the past). Early days, but it's a VERY encouraging performance. Wonder if he's using the serve and volley tactics that seemed to get him over the line yesterday. Always good to see younger kids playing to this level.....
