And unfortunately Benneteau broke again to win 7-5 in the 3rd.

More than decent effort again though from Joe

Liam doesn't like playing Tom, but Tom maybe a little tired.

Why? Is it because they are friends/former doubles partners; or just playing styles?

Anyway Liam broken in game 1. First DF on the board......a big issue in recent matches, so worth keeping an eye on the DF count.

Not sure of the exact reason, but I really want Liam to start getting some big wins, so when I saw this draw I knew it would be very tough.

A. Benneteau, given recent form, is a harder draw than Olivetti, IMHO.

So Joe's doing great, albeit 2-4 down in the second. Hang in there, Joe!

Joe lost the second by 6-2, but is *2-1 in the decider...

Jonny O'Mara put out Neil Pauffley (3) by 7-6(3) 6-3

Neil was considering playing some Asian challengers during the summer as he likes going on solo trips plus the fields tend to be weaker.

Not sure if it's been picked up elsewhere on this Board, but there's an interesting article on Mr Klein on the Footsoldiers of tennis website. He's interviewed at last week's Futures event. There were a series of outbursts directed towards officials and his opponents by all accounts. In his SF, he reminded Tom F how much lower his ranking was, and then missed a return but commented out loud that he was better returning against better servers!!!

Terrific. Sounds like a nice guy!

Thanks for the reports RJA.

Thanks too, Mark - that has to be the best media coverage I've ever seen for a Futures event in the UK (indeed, coverage of Challengers isn't usually that good!) - I've read one report (which also looked remarkably accurate for a media report on tennis at this level) and will look at the rest later.

Edit: Having said that, I've just realised you're using last week's rankings wink - no doubt going from the drawsheet. If you want to use the current ones from now on, the ones in the list of R2 matches a few posts up should be correct.

Tommy Bennett has an early break against Josh ...

Julian Cash, playing his first ever Futures match, looks on course to win it

He's no doubt a bit of a Jeckyll and Hyde character, feisty and controversial on court, but has the ability to charm off the court.
