Tom won 6-2 6-1. I think there may have been some injury timeouts as the score froze at least twice.
Tom is just doing superb, a first semi a few months ago followed by a few more straight after, now back to back finals. Would be so chuffed for him to take the title here.
Yes, Tom is now on the verge of the top 500 - he probably needs at least a couple more points, but winning the Final tomorrow or reaching semis (possibly even just QFs) in Felixstowe next week would do it.
Jonny will leap about 500 places on Monday week to just outside the top 1000.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Just curious, wasn't really around much late last year/start of this one - is there something specific that's happened ? i.e. was Tom injured before ? Has he changed trainer? Joined the NTC ?
Or is it just that everything's suddenly come together and clicked ?
It really is an amazing climb since the start of the year - and solid and consistent too, not just one or two amazing/lucky tournaments
As far as I know basically the senior guys not on the Aegon list get nothing unless they are ranked inside the top 250, they can use the NTC facilities but get no help with coaching, travel etc.,. The bonus scheme is in place to help them. There may be special instances when Leon will help out a player but those are likely to be few and far between. Not sure about juniors transitioning into seniors.

The excellent article you posted yesterday (muscle fitness on the academies thread) mentions Tom half way down. It certainly explains why he's made an impact this year but, just how much of one is still a surprise!
