Dan tweeted earlier about how cold it was in manchester.....(southern softies). i was about to respond by saying he should be thankful its not raining for once, but i didnt want to tempt fate. i just knew it wouldnt be long. I assume its raining as scores showing "interrupted" at the moment.
Fitzy helping out at Wimbly? Injury not too serious then hopefully?
Post rain delay the matches were being played on synthetic courts (orange astroturf) as the heavy rain shower had left the grass courts pretty slippery. They were hopeful of playing some more matches on grass as a couple of players, Malik in particular, were very eager to play on grass. However there was another downpour just as I was leaving so that will have probably put pay to that.
Broady v Pauffley was a pretty good match and after a woeful first couple of games Liam was probably the better player throughout and will understandably feel a little hard done by that he didn't get the win. Fair play to Neil though, for the most part he played the big points well and was very strong in both breakers especially on the first few points of both which put him in command. It was easily the best I had seen Liam play since Wimbledon 2011, served pretty well, forehand was very good and back hand was solid. More importantly his attitude was fine, no histrionics when things were going badly and some good positive body language at times. I certainly feel a bit more optimistic about him than I have done for a long time.

L16: (Q) Robin Goodman UNR vs (5) Marcus Willis WR 563
Nice! Guarantees 1 brit finalist.....
His website is a bit out of date but in 2010 he was looking to go to US college?
He's definitely been at college in the US, ditto Matt Frost (Robin, at Drake, Dakota (?)) - there was a page mentioning it on the LTA site a couple of days ago.
Here's a youtube link from last year:

It sounds a fun place to be and he's obviously playing pretty well.

L32: (8) Lewis Burton WR 675 defeated (Q) Jordan Kelly-Houston (NZL) UNR by 2 & 0 - I think! It disappeared off the scoreboard while my back was turned!
