Tricky but certainly within the realms of possibility.

And even if not, Alex has nothing to come off his total until the very end of September so it's great to see him clock up another 5 points (knocking off one of the 1 pts) and he has 8 other scores of 1 or 2 which could easily be knocked off and transformed upwards with a couple of wins.
Mathematically, these couple of months are an excellent chance for him to make a good run up in the rankings.

Alex got broken to love by Phau in the first game. Things can only get better ...

They have got a bit better - Phau has had no more break points and Alex has had two. However, he hasn't managed to take either of them and the German is serving for the 1st set.

Seems like another very creditable effort from Alex but unfortunately not enough.

Good effort but Phau took both of his break points and saved 10/10 of Alex's bps

Certainly more than respectable! And with time, one would hope that experience of playing with the higher-level players would lead to some more MD wins. All a very encouraging development.

Closer match than the score suggested for sure. I caught bits of it and Ward was in a lot of Phau's service games, with leads and BPs in most of them in the second.

Decent stuff.

As with everyone else, I'm a big fan of Alex's scheduling this Spring/Summer and how he has performed.
