Some slightly bad news here. 2nd qualifying seed Ivo Minar has just lost in the final round of qualifying so will be ahead of the loser of Smetty v Ward if a LL spot comes up.
Phau is 33 and has not played for nine weeks. He is at home though. Laaskonen and Millman have both beaten him on clay this year, so it is not impossible.
Obviously we would have preferred the (Q) v (Q) slot but at least he avoided Tobias Kamke which would likely have been too big an ask. In the circumstances Alex could certainly give a Phau a good match.
