To the mystification of US tennis writer, Steve Tignor: http://www.tennis.com/pro-game/2013/07/keeping-tabs-july-4/48222/#.UdX5vKzSySo

I don't blame Steve Tignor. The first time I saw it used on here, I just scratched my head and moved on. By the third or fourth time, I googled it!

Not mine at all, WD40.  I shamelessly cribbed it from "Auld Beetroot Nose" (S'rAlex, if you prefer) when I first used it, as it seemed to describe the nerve-wracking tension of a match tie-break in a nutshell! wink

More than a little amused by the BBC headline that still says (at 16:45) "Live coverage as Novak Djokovic leads Juan Martin del Potro before Andy Murray faces Jerzy Janowicz at around 16:00 BST."

Never discount Mr del Potro, Aunty. (Hoping. Still hoping.)

I think Nole and JP are doing it on purpose, as a favour to the British public, so they can watch Andy's match when they get home from work !

They did a good job, then! (Even if the result wasn't quite the one I'd hoped for)

Hoping Muzza can strike early as Janowizc must be feeling the nerves.

Oh yes. Murray has momentum. There's still light. The roof favours Janowicz. So of course one would stop the match, allow Janowicz to go back into the locker room and recuperate and then play on in conditions that favour him. Sigh.

What a joke. they did to Muzza last year too, put him on one instead of centre when it was raining. even Mac said it was a crazy British thing to do not to help the home player.
I am going to be so gutted and angry if Muzza loses the match let alone the next set.

I guess we can all relax now - at least for the next 41 hours.

Go Muzza

I offered them a few bob to keep it going.

My husband had an emergency hospital appointment in the morning, which they assured us would be very short as he would be the only person to be seen, so no waiting. So of course I saw no reason to set the recorder. We got home at 5pm. . . You have no idea how glad I was to see Djoker and Delpo still going at it hammer and tongs.

Really well played, Andy - very good serving, some fantastic shots, and very well done on keeping your composure (or at least regaining it quickly). I think Janowicz's campaigning to have the roof closed backfired on him - if he thought because getting to the Paris indoor tournament final meant he would have an advantage under the roof - he didn't factor in that the surfaces were very different.

Still not playing his best from the back of the court, but still he's in the final and Nole should be a little tired.
Crowd will be very loud that's for sure and hopefully that will get him over the line.
