If we get one pair through we will be doing well.

Under different circumstances Heather & Marina and Lisa Raymond & Sam Stosur would have been partners but find themselves on the other side of the court.

Nicola and Lisa should hammer the French pair. (OK, maybe not hammer, but they should win).

Yes, Heather vs. Marina seems like a cruel twist of fate.
I think Nik & Lisa or the Ninja's may be our best hopes.

Hmm I wouldn't say Nik and Lisa should win.... Lisa isn't exactly a doubles player... I hope they win, but it would be an upset if they did

Yes, but Alizé isn't a doubles player either (won 2, lost 7 this year) - volleys poorly and hits a loopy groundstroke (particularly the forehand) so easy to intercept.

And Pauline is not a huge amount better - won 4, lost 5, for the year and, more importantly, playing REALLY badly in singles (2-14 win-loss for the year, barely won a match).

i know what your saying but they still play at a much higher level throughout the year than lisa, particularly, so can't see how they wouldn't go in as favourites! nik is the only real doubles player on the court, and i agree they have a decent chance, but if you've seen lisa play much doubles (i don't know if you have or haven't) then you will know what i'm talking about. she hits a big ball but her volleys are almost non existant... the blend of lisa at the back and nik at the net is a promising combination but overall I think the French girls have more to offer which reflects in their rankings

I'm certainly not arguing with you and, after all, the rankings are what the rankings are so the French girls must be favourites.

And, no, I've never seen Lisa play doubles so if you say it's pretty ugly then that's a problem.

And I may well be biased because I don't particularly like either of the French girls or rate them very highly.

So maybe it's wishful thinking but I'm still going with the GB duo. Also, agree with blob that Sam and Jade may well stand a chance. NB can Mel play doubles ?

Lisa's doubles isn't ugly (my fault for sounding extremely pessimistic haha) but just not at the same level as most of our other girls and the other players in a tournament of this calibre.

Jade & Sam play v good doubles together so also agree they have a good chance

Mel can play doubles, yes!! she is a fairly good doubles player actually.... good serve, solid groundstrokes + the opponents can't expose her poor movement as well, volleys pretty well too... Tara also great at doubles .... I rate them pretty highly as a pair

Or perhaps they are waiting to see whether to put them on another court, given the number of matches that have been w/o s today? (Guessing in particular they may be waiting to see what happens with Wozniacki match)

Raymond doing a very poor job of covering the down the line shot.

Much better from Lisa as they break at the start of the 2nd

Anne and Johanna just starting their doubles now against Errani & Vinci.

Chances of a shock here are remote to say the least but Anne & JoKo hold to lead 1-0*
