First set Erakovic was brilliant was Laura was really struggling, and it was all over in under 20 minutes. 2nd set what Laura did well was hang in and keep it close and just hope Erakovic's level dropped (which of course it did spectacularly). By the third set the crowd were fully involved and the fact that Erakovic was timing the ball much better than Laura became irrelevant.
Laura was certainly due one of these wins to even the score from several matches this year she should have won but didn't quite get over the line, and it came at the perfect time.
So who would we want Laura to play next round..... Im hoping Riske can pull through as I feel Laura can be more of the dominate player which she likes!
Impressed that Laura kept fighting, though the crowd certainly helped her, as did the net and the incorrect call on set point in the 2nd set, when Erakovic had total control of the point, only to df when the point was replayed.

This is one area where the rule doesn't work very well, but glad it went in Laura's favour this time. The only way Laura could possibly win that point was with an incorrect out call. In those instances I think line judges should call it in if it's close and let the player put away a winner.
I think Kanepi is a good matchup for Laura, power player who she can match but will also make plenty of mistakes. Laura struggled with her timing today, why who knows nerves, a little tired ? but she was basically getting hit off the court which is never usually the case. Marina sadly for her imploded but great hug at the net at the end of the match. Just about guaranteed her seeding now for the US open which is huge.
