RE: Weeks 26 & 27: Wimbledon men's main draw (grass)

Watching Janowicz destroy Almagro (at least first 2 sets) I am not surprised Kyle was over powered. Janowicz is the most dangerous player in Murray's half of the draw.

Looks like you're right - he's through in straight sets.

Those posts about Janowicz earlier in the thread looking a bit silly now.
When you see Bercy last year it is apparent the man loves quick surfaces.

Still don't know how consistently he will do it though.

Had court 1 tickets today, shame about the rain but saw a good match with Ferrer and Ken's doubles after the final rain delay. Anyone as we were walking back to the car park there's a man (I presume his father) standing outside the gate with a big whiteboard with #isaacstouteracism written on it and 'Fighting LTA racism' printed in big letters on his tshirt. He was stopping anyone he could and trying to preach to them the supposed hardships Isaac has to face in his goal to be a professional. I know he's come on this board before to complain and was quite rightly given examples of Anne and Heather who have had plenty of lta support.

I just can't see how this helps Isaac's tennis at all and the whole
'us against the world mentality' must put a lot I'd pressure on Isaac during his matches. Coming onto a relativelsmall website and creating a Facebook group is one thing but preaching to people right outside Wimbledon is on a completely different level. The LTA get a lot of stick but I don't think its at all fair to accuse them of racism!

Well Mr Stoute has a history of doing things that are detrimental to his son's career, not that I have much sympathy with Isaac due to own antics. I won't post the details here but a quick Google search will be quite enlightening for anyone not aware of what I am talking about.

Well, that gave me something to go and google for fifteen minutes!

I am not the LTA's leading cheerleader (note large dose of sarcasm) but I cannot see, on the face of it, that Mr. Stoute has much of a claim.

Anne and Heather were mentioned above. Did Mr. Stoute not also notice that Josh WH was given a highly-coveted WC to the Wimbly qualies ? And is part of the Aegon dream team ? That Mirabelle Njoze has just got a WC to the Junior qualies ?

And, net net, the idea of having one's parent standing outside the courts with a big whiteboard and 'preaching' just makes me cringe (and I have pretty cringe-worthy parents!).

Isaac, good luck with your tennis.

Thats such a sad story Josh, I look out for Issacs results and cheer for the lad as I kind of feel sorry for him despite never even seen him play!

It's busy already at Wimbledon:

Queue warning from Mr Wimbledon ...
Wimbledon @Wimbledon 1m
People in #theQueue will have to wait many hours for on day sales.
We strongly advise those intending to queue not to travel to #Wimbledon

Jonathan Overend @5livetennis 4m
Walked through park at 730am with arriving fans being told that they will have to wait until 5pm to get in.

I wonder what outcome he's looking for. Whatever it is, I'm quite sure that deliberately antagonising your "opponent" is not the best way of achieving it.

Very true.

I get the feeling though that at this point in the sorry tale, antagonising his opponent may actually have become the sole remaining aim.

For the sake of not having it all rehashed on this thread, it's probably best if I refer you to this thread:

http://britishtennis.activeboard.com/t40614616/boys-2011-australian-open-juniors-grade-a-weeks-3-4/?page=1&sort=oldestFirst

Isaac's father posted there and while nobody from the LTA did (you wouldn't expect them to post on this forum, after all), I thought there was enough balance on that thread not to have to zap it and I trust people here to be intelligent enough to make up their own minds and/or to conclude that there isn't enough information to form a view.

Like most people here, I don't know any of the relevant facts beyond a bit of hearsay (though there are a few people here who have seen him in action), but I get the impression that the one thing quite a few of us agree on is that whatever the rights and wrongs of the situation, we feel sorry for the kid getting caught in the middle of it all.

Saw Isaac's dad at Newcastle and he didn't come across at all as controversial. I didn't speak to him but certainly no antics on that occasion.

Dodig and Janowicz's form continues to make James/Kyle's losses look more and more respectable...

I think we all thought that James played really well against Dodig. It was just frustrating that he threw away victory with a quite horrible choke.
