Long article on Kyle on the ATP website - even if it is slightly out of date !!

And another supreme example of BBC (Aimee Lewis) idiocy/failure to do homework:

INJURED DARCIS WITHDRAWS

The man they call the shark has not bite left in him. Rafael Nadal's conqueror Steve Darcis has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to a shoulder injury, which means Karin Knapp of Italy can enjoy London at his leisure and begin preparations for the third round.

I think she meant Lukasz Kubot of Poland, but never mind.  Can't even get the sex of the opponent right! disbelief

Edit:  Someone was on the ball!  The glaring error was corrected before I could even fire off an e-mail to the Complaints Department!  Thing is, it's now preserved for posterity on here! biggrin

If it's any consolation to Kyle, Mr Janowicz is currently dismantling Radek Stepanek. Double break set 1; already up one break set 2.

And immediately thereafter, Stepanek retired.

Stepanek picked up an injury in the 6th game of the match and had a lengthy MTO.

Oh another retiral...

Was just going to mention that Stepanek was an Andy Murray victim in Andy's first Wimbledon at age 18. I wonder how Kyle would have got on against a fit Stepanek.

From the Euroweeklynews ... via #staff

"Mallorcan fishing village over-run with flounders"
Rafa Nadal was shocked to see what his nets had landed when he checked them at dusk today in Mallorca. The local resident had zoomed off to his home haven after losing in R1 of the grass Grand Slam (cattle grazing division) and resorted to his favourite past-time of fishing at a local competition on his home island.

Imagine his surprise to find Roger Federer floating alongside his pitch ... and in stellar company. To whit, Sharapova, Tsonga, Azarenka and assorted other ex-No 1 tennis players (and Stepanek) who had escaped from Wimbledon in R2 via the emergency underground tunnels.

Even more of a shock - they didn't fancy being line caught and BBQ'd for supper. Oh no.

They wanted a share of Rafa's waterfront to try and win SOMETHING between now and the 7th July even if the prize turned out to be a jug of sangria at the local taverna or a go on the Nadaoke.

Uncle Toni was most put out: "It's not cricket, no?"

An application has been submitted to the International Court of Appeal in the Hague to ship all 39 escapees across the Atlantic to Newport where it's understood they can fish for cod whilst waiting for a few others to join them in a mug of Campbells soup.

The Wildcard play-offs take place on Thursday; guest commentator Mardy Fish.

This is Wimbledon, so surely it's retirement. Save your retirals for the Edinburgh futures. wink

Can someone PLEASE send the boys around to deal with John Lloyd and his extraordinarily poor commentating. In the Dimitrov-Zemlja match he's already referred to ballgirls as linesgirls and now he keeps referring to Zemlja as Serbian. How can he be allowed to commentate without any research or preparation AGAIN!!?

Because he's a former Wimbledon (mixed doubles ... ahem) champion ... at least, I assume that's his feeble excuse disbelief
