One interesting addition to qualifying is Alexander Jhun, who concentrates on Futures, having played just one junior ITF before. Cameron Norrie and Luke Bambridge are our only direct entrants. Alex Sendegeya, Evan Hoyt, Tom Colautti, Samm Butler, Peter Ashley and Joshua Sapwell appear to be prime candidates for main draw wildcards.
Results are on the ITF but not yet on the LTA drawsheet, and they show an encouraging number of upsets: Isaac Stoute, Josef Dodridge, Jamie Malik, Robbie Ridout and Alexander Jhun (over the 3rd, 11th, 13th, 7th and 8th seeds respectively). As a result 2 Brit qualifiers guaranteed
I was a bit surprised not to see Jonny O'Mara on the list, but this explains it:
"Tough to watch everyone getting ready to play Roehampton ITF. Forgot to enter as I am a shambles. Same for Wimbledon. #gutted #sadtweet"
Sounds almost unbelievable (though it may be easier than we think to miss deadlines when you are travelling all the time), but hopefully it means he has learnt a valuable lesson that will stand him in good stead in the future, i.e. he'll make sure he is never in this position again.

True, if they give them out to people who forget to enter Futures (which I think is a bad idea), you'd think they'd do the same here, where it could be argued that there is more reason to do so - i.e. it might be a junior's last chance to play in these events and there is probably more reason to forgive a young player for a mistake like this.

A relevant clause on the LTA site giving guidance about wildcards is:
"Wild Card Policy Performance Support May 2013 ........ Late requests from juniors:
The LTA will not issue late entry wild cards to junior competitions. Players must enter tournaments on time in order to be considered for a wild card. The only exception will be ITF Junior Circuit and TE Junior Tour tournaments held in Great Britain, which are sanctioned by the ITF & TE respectively, and whose regulations state that a wild card may be granted to a player who has not entered the tournament. In such a situation, players who did not enter the event in time but who wish to be considered for a wild card must contact the LTA to request consideration and to demonstrate that exceptional circumstances have led to the situation."
2 years ago Liam Broady (or more accurately his dad) failed to enter Roland Garros, and there was considerable debate about whether or not it was within the rules to allocate a wildcard or qualifying wildcard to him - he wasn't given one. I don't know whether the Wimbledon regulations allow it. If they do then considering that Jonny was messed up at Eastbourne through no fault of his own (withdrawn in favour of Marcus Daniell, who had been missed out of the draw) then I would hope the LTA take the opportunity to remedy their error by giving him a Wimbledon WC
I don't get this, his ranking wouldn't have been high enough to get in the Wimbledon main draw anyway, so irrelevant wether he entered or not he would still need a WC

True, but the problem is that it is relevant to that "Players must enter tournaments on time in order to be considered for a wild card" clause.

Cameron Norrie has struggled for wins lately, up against strong opposition, and it's the same here, as he plays Roland Garros runner-up Alexander Zverev. Robbie Ridout also has a particularly strong opponent - Borna Coric.
Interesting that they have awarded one of the wildcards to young Aussie Thanasi Kokkinakis - unusual for them to give a WC to a non-Brit here so I wonder if there is a reason beyond giving one to a talented player (Australian Open finalist who hasn't played since)
Interesting. I wonder if there is any link to the fact that Martin Weston tweeted that there were 14 GB boys in the main draw whereas I could only find 13.

On second thoughts, on Wikipedia it says "Kokkinakis hasn't played a match since losing the Australian Open boys' final, due to a stress fracture in his back. This is expected to keep him out of competition until mid to late 2013" which sounds like a good reason to offer him a wild card, so that's probably the only reason (and either Martin Weston or I can't count!)
