Yes, much worse draws than the men in general. I was hoping Lisa would get a decent one having just missed out on a main draw WC, but she definitely hasn't!

QR1: (wc) Katy Dunne WR 964 v (q24) Nastassja Burnett (ITA) WR 150 (CH 131 in May) - 3rd on Court 6

Burnett reached the SFs in Nottingham before getting convincingly beaten by Bally. The other seed in this section is (q2) Voskoboeva.

QR1: (wc) Naomi Broady WR 358 v Stéphanie Dubois (CAN) WR 138 (CH 87 in 2012) - 2nd on Court 14

The seeds in this section are (q3) Garcia & (q24) Nara.

QR1: (wc) Emily Webley-Smith WR 412 v (q23) Tadeja Majeric (SLO) WR 130 (= CH) - 2nd on Court 15

The Slovenian took Bally to 2 close sets in the Nottingham Final. The other seed in this section is (q4) Hercog.

QR1: (wc) Jade Windley WR 389 v Tereza Mrdeza (CRO) WR 163 (CH 151 in Apr) - 1st on Court 16

The seeds in this section are (q18) Karatantcheva & (q7) Meusburger.

QR1: (wc) Anna Smith WR 741 v (q16) Anna Schmiedlova (SVK) WR 119 (= CH) - 2nd on Court 16

The other seed in this section is (q9) Pfizenmaier.

QR1: (wc) Lisa Whybourn WR 258 v (q10) Vania King (USA) WR 113 (CH 50 in 2006) - 2nd on Court 13

The other seed in this section is (q17) Zahlavova-Strycova.

QR1: (wc) Amanda Carreras WR 322 v (q15) Teliana Pereira (BRA) WR 123 (CH 116 in Feb) - 3rd on Court 14

H2H 0-1 - that 1 & 2 thrashing in the Buenos Aires 25K Final towards the end of last year. The other seed in this section is (11) Duque-Marino.

QR1: (wc) Melanie South WR 589 v Shahar Peer (ISR) WR 168 (CH 11 in 2011) - 3rd on Court 16

Peer reached R4 at Wimbledon in 2008. The seeds in this section are (q12) M Sanchez & (q19) Larcher de Brito.

My thoughts, and probably most others.  I feel we may get at least one surprise though !

Horrible stuff. Although Pereira is a clay courter so lest hope Mandy can get that british grass win on the cards.

Can't see us getting one win tomorrow but proove me wrong ladies

2 wins. Not brave enough to call who.

Although overall the draws are tougher than average, at least there are 3 players there who have yet to win a match on grass I think (Mrdeza, Pereira, Schmiedlova). Pity that none of them are playing Lisa or Naomi though, who I think would be the most likely to take advantage.

Would be a fantastic effort by any of the women to get a win here, but out of 8 matches there will probably be at least one upset. I'm not brave enough to call which one either!

Naomi on her top game would be our best chance, but cannot see a GB winner

I thought we would get 3 in the men's today Baker Evans and Rice so fairly close. Sadly I'm in the 0 camp for the ladies. If we got 2 through that would be great. Best chance Naomi and maybe Katy.

Not looking too good is it - generally tough draws and to a large extent, those most likely to take advantage of a half-decent draws have got the toughest ones and those with slightly less daunting opponents are the Brits we'd be least likely to refer to as grass court specialists.

I'm still hoping for one or two upsets though and with 40 points at stake for a single win, any wins here will make a big difference to our players' rankings.

I also can not see anyone with a clear chance of winning, but would hope for one or two upsets as well. For those possible upsets I am going to go with Mel and Jade. Mel because she seems to be in form just now and Peer is not and Jade because she has been determinedly working towards this. Would be more than happy though if any of the girls manages to win.

Which, alas, she doesn't do. Ms South goes down 6-2 6-0. And Ms W-S goes down 6-3 6-3.

i think jade and naomi have decent chances... + clearly vania king is a great player but she doesn't have the best record on grass so perhaps lisa has an outside chance as well... can't really see anyone else winning unfortunately
