I agree here. Let's not over react re Dan. He is a highly talented player, but he is not the only one out there. Winning matches at this level is not easy whoever you are. He is going to win some and lose some, but will remain on an upward curve (if he can keep his mind in the right place) even though there will be disappointments along the way.
Is it so surprising? The Spaniard has beaten a lot of good players this year - and has had some success on hard (not just clay)
That's fair comment Milo but given everything that has happened recently and with home advantage I have to consider Dan's loss a surprise even if his opponent is higher ranked.
i hope he is thick skinned and let's it go over his head, but I for one know that if I had a bad day at the office then it would really rub salt into the wounds if the national broadcaster headlined it. Having said that I am not in the public eye playing at world class events, and I certainly would not put myself in the worlds top 300 data clerks (there is no official ranking system yet but I'm sure I wouldn't feature)!

H2H 1-2 but Jamie won their last meeting 6 & 3 at last year's Athens Challenger, so must surely fancy his chances here. The Russian only seems to be playing one event per month this year.

I'm not sure how losing to someone ranked over 100 places higher makes him a strange lad, particularly when you look at who his opponent has beaten this year. Certainly no mug that's for sure.
Well bit of a mixed bag today. Did think Dan would win that and to think most people were screamign he should get a MDWC. If you can even win a quallies matach against a spaniard you ain't gonna do much in the MD
