Dan Evans' conqueror, Sńr MUnoz de la Nava has just wiped the floor with his 2nd round opponent, Peter Gojowczyk (WR 170) beating him 6-2 6-1

Perhaps puts a different perspective on Dan's performance yesterday.

Made me laugh the way you put that coup especially about the other guy being truly dire. I see he wasn't even ranked inside the top 500 so what was he doing there? How come he was there?

He has been out injured and hasn't played for 15 months, therefore is unranked. He got in because he has a "protected ranking" of around 250.

 Thanks RJA

Is Admission to the Qualifying still free or is there now a small charge? Or am I completely wrong?!!

I already thought that there was far too much negativity here and elsewhere about Evo yesterday in his loss to a much higher ranked player, who is also most certainly not just pretty good on clay.

I do hope he can really get his head down over the coming months and move towards the top 200.

From what I hear he's a nice enough lad but at this rate he'll do well to reach the top 200 again, but hope he does!

I must admit that after watching Evo's match and then coming home to read some of the comments on here and I was pretty close to making some very unfriendly comments towards some people. I did however quickly realise that I have probably been equally guilty of making assumptions about matches and in the past, hopefully after yesterday I will be less prone to doing so.

Anyway, I am re-assured by Munoz's win today as I really though he did play very well yesterday and I am glad to see that I wasn't deluding myself.

Bad luck Alex. A decent looking performance. Hope he can play well over the coming month as he is defending big points.

And Dustin Brown (who beat Lewis Burton yesterday) beat the number 5 seed in two sets.
