Hmm. I think Mr Ward has some performances that suggest the capacity to go higher than 300. Sorry that the two have to play each other in the FQR; would like to see both do well.
Yes, I agree. When I said 'in the top 300' I meant he could well get to 250, say, without too much trouble.
In the last game Oli hit a ball hard in anger which just missed a ball boy, and at the end of the game scraped his racket on the floor. It's on serve first, Oli.
There's a good free stream on http://www.e-tennis.tv/ (I don't know if that's where some people are already watching it) - Alex broke early in the 2nd and has just saved break back points to lead 3-0*

*0-5 Oli is PATENTLY not trying. I'm sorry, but he is clearly letting this game go, and wants to get to the last set.
Broken to love.....not running for anything, just rolling serves in.
Now, of course, Alex gets to serve first in the final set....a distinct advantage......without Oli even trying to take that privilege away from him.
Whether he wins on loses this, I'm afraid this simply isn't good enough or professional enough from Oli. Like a spoilt child with too many toys. Talent fine. Attitude stinks! Surely there's a coach from the LTA watching this, who will report back.......
Oli gave up the set after failing to break from 0-30 in game 4 of the second set. I can understand why players give up in that situation, but I would've thought you'd still give your opponent something to do, whilst conserving your energy for the final set.

Oli was serving in game 4 of the second set. It was game 3 I think, which was only 1 break down at the time, and he also got to 15-40, but threw in a bunch of UEs leading to the racquet going airborne! Surely it's crazy to give up 1 break down!
