re jonny O, RJA 's guess is 100% correct. jonny is a little frustrated today to say the least!
Absolutely appalling, poor Jonny. There is doubt that he would have got a wild card had this screw up not occurred.
I suppose the only saving grace is that the LTA will probably find a way of compensating him and will probably involve a tournament or two where he has more prospect of getting some wins.
Really sad about Liam, what a brat he seems to have become too often. Get it sorted !
The worse part is that I still think he is a genuinely nice lad, perhaps in some ways too nice a lad for the brutal world of men's tennis. His behaviour seems to result not from any deep major character flaws but from a total failure to deal with the disappointment of not playing as well as he thinks he should. Ever since Wimbledon 2011 he has put a huge amount of pressure on himself and emotionally he just isn't capable of dealing with it.
Within reason I don't have a problem with a bit of bad behaviour court as long as it is aimed at helping you put things right. Dan Evans can still be a right brat on court but his anger is always focussed at trying to get himself to play better and when he does play better you get a positive emotional response with him. Hell Djokovic was still smashing rackets long after becoming a Grand Slam champion, In Liam's case however he is constantly down with himself for playing badly but there doesn't seem to be any focus on getting himself to play better, it's almost like he is bemoaning how unfair it is that he can't produce the tennis that he thinks he should. Even when he does play a good point you get no positive reaction and he still gives the impression of sulking about what happened 5 minutes before. The vibe is constantly negative and opponents feed off it.
