Went into the match hoping Kyle would at least put up a good performance and he certainly did that. Knowing Kyle though, he will be disappointed that he let a couple of real chances slip by - set point in the first set and 4-4 0-30 in the 2nd. And if he isn't, Beechy certainly will be !!
Truth is though, I don't think any of us expected him to get that close and he just looked so "at home" on the big stage. Fantastic effort and so proud of him.
And also glad for those of you who are seeing him for the first time in the last week or so, that you have now witnessed what I have been fortunate enough to see on several occasions over the last year and a half - the blossoming of a tremendous talent.
Very good from Kyle. Yes, he has shown a level I had really not anticipated over the last 2 weeks.
This playing his first Queens and Wimbledon MDs at only a few months older than when Andy played his first.
Not at Andy's level then ( though fitter ! ) and Andy had been held back in the previous year by injury, but still good stuff and very encouraging for the future.
Kyle is so impressive. Not just his shot making, but his clarity of thought on court, and the general understated way he handles himself. Going to be a pleasure watching him build up his career over the next 5 years or so.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
If he continues at this pace, there won't be much occasion for him to be with the rest of them. That's not meant to be nasty; it's just the case. Unless, that is, he inspires others to new heights.
I am staggered at how good Kyle looks. I would say in both the last two matches he has looked at least top 150. I love his forehand, but his backhand was impressive too.
Have to agree that his attitude is the most mature I have seen on an 18 year old for a while. I wouldnt be suprised if in 2-3 years we were looking back at this tournament and saying 'Well the signs were all there, even then.'' Definitely must have an outside chance against (hopefully) a lower ranked player or clay courter.
Absolutely delighted at this performance. I had hoped to watch the match (not before 4pm!) but the ladies took so long over their matches that I only saw a few points before I had to go out. Damn life interfering with my tennis-watching!
I'm looking forward to watching him at Wimbledon - I really hope he gets a good draw.
What I really hope is that Mr Edmund doesn't see any press for the next week. And that no reporters are able to pester him. Just leave him alone to go about things at his own pace.
Somewhat amused, by the way, that if you look at Twitter, the non-Brits are being very complimentary ... but can't quite believe that GB has come up with a player even paler than Andy Murray!
Wow just comeback from watching the match live, happy to see that everybody on here was as impressed as I was. Last saw Kyle play live 12 months ago at the Newcastle futures tournament when Oli swept the board. 12 months later the improvement is staggering, the gasps from the crowd sitting alongside me after some of Kyle's shots said it all. I believe I bored everybody silly sitting along side me with the amount of running commentary I gave and background I gave on Kyle during the match. Who said Clay was his best surface ?! Beechy was so chuffed afterwards as well. To be fair Simon was well below his best, and Kyle faded a little in the second when Simon's level also dropped, and it would be wrong to get carried away, but still WOW.
