Rumour that Simon picked up an injury in practice today? Is this true?

Gilles Simon had to be carried out from the practice court this morning, he had a big pack of ice on his ankle and looks like tendon damage

That should be the top 400 cracked aswell

Yep. Somewhere in the low 380s. I wondered for a moment if his 8 points from beating Gimeno Traver in Wimby qualies last year were coming off this week but it appears they don't come off until after Wimbledon.

That's right, qualies points come off at the same time as main draw points.

As things stand, Kyle will also break into the GB top 10 for the first time unless Alex gets a LL place and wins a round in Milan or Oli goes deep there.

Those who were there sound very impressed with Kyle's play today

In one way I really hope not as I love to see him play and especially so close to Wimbledon but a walkover into the quaterfinals guaranteed 45 points and nearly 18,000 euro's they will both come in handy

I think he would face a lucky loser if Simon can't play, but hopefully one he would have a chance against.

James Ward is on Center Court twice tomorrow.

His singles vs. Tomic is 1st up at 11:00

His doubles is later.

Of course it's round two but Simon hasn't started yet

I notice from the Twitosphere, that Kyle is donating half of his prize money this week to the Royal Marsden Hospital, I assume as part of the Rosco Cancer Fund raising event.

I'll bet that is Beechy's half  biggrin

Joking aside, it is a tremendous gesture but highly unsurprising and exactly the sort of gesture I would expect from someone so mature for his age.

Re Simon, there also has to be chance that he will give it a try tomorrow (or will it be Weds?) and if it isn't right, pull out after a couple of games.

Possibly. Am I a bad person for hoping this situation happens? Kyle making the QFs would be just fantastic, even with a little bit of help from injured opponents.

That said, it would be great to see how he does fare against Gilles if the injury isn't too serious.

with wimbledon 7 days away, if sure if there was any problem or any risk whatsoever he will pull out, he would be crazy not to

What happens if Simon pulls out and none of the guys who lost in the FQR are still around/accept it - would Kyle just get a walkover?

Then it would go to someone who lost in the second round of qualies (and so on).

Decent chunk of info on Kyle in the ATP roundup of the day, including comments from an interview he gave.
