On checking the rules and working out when Sam's doubles was played yesterday, I think she was still playing in Nottingham at the 4pm sign-in deadline, so therefore couldn't sign in by telephone
Unsurprisingly Amanda is struggling somewhat at present. She is trying her hand at WTA events for the first time, she is playing on an unfamiliar surface, clay is her speciality, and she is playing the top seed.
Q1: CARRERAS, Amanda (GBR) WC 320 lost to HAMPTON, Jamie (USA) 1 42 0-6 4-6
Amanda must have felt she had stepped off a cliff at the start of this match, all her services were being put away and she couldn't contain Jamie's service. She steadied herself in the 2nd and managed to hold service twice and break twice and her service percentage shot up.
Good experience for Amanda, at least showed something more of herself after a terrible first set. Might have been interesting on clay if she could find her second set level. But, about the expected result: 0-6 4-6
